Designing DET-Approved Home School Programs
In this 10-week-course, you will take the guess work out of navigating the new NSW Syllabus, with Saltanat Bora and Sevda Itil- both teachers with over 2 decades of experience between them. They will help you design authentic, Islamic-inspired and board-approved experiences for your children. The DET NSW Syllabus is a mandatory documentation that all schools including home school educators must use to plan and design teaching and learning programs. Meet your teacher: Sevda Itil
Sevda Itil is a public school educator having worked as an Assistant Principal and Classroom Teacher within a decade long career. Having started her career in Islamic Schools, Sevda has had a birds eye view of education systems across the private and public sector. This has given her the vantage point of imbuing Islamic values and principles in with quality programs.
Her in-depth knowledge of programming and designing rich, engaging lessons, will help participants of this course with their programming by helping them navigate and understand the course codes, indicators and cross-curricular themes present in the new NSW Syllabus.
Sevda Itil has graduated with a Masters in Communication and a Masters of Teaching. She is a permanent teacher at the Department of Education and is currently practicing teaching in a NSW Public School.
Meet your Teacher: Saltanat Bora
Saltanat Bora’s home schooling journey began 12 years ago when she was trying to find the best education fit for her daughter. After researching into Steiner education and homeschooling Saltanat decided she would embark on a journey to create homeschooling programs for her children that nurtured childhood and the spiritual practice of Islam. After 12 years, her mission is to now share her knowledge with other homeschooling Muslim mothers.
Saltanat is the owner of the popular blog The Modest Life: where she blogs about all things homeschooling. Through her many years of homeschooling, she has developed an incredibly rich program that is instilled with Islamic themes and values.
Saltanat is also a NSW DET certified teacher with a Masters of Teaching degree.
